Read the upload requirements first
A file-size limit and an image-dimension requirement are different things. A form might ask for a JPEG under 50 KB and a specific width and height. Write down the required format, dimensions, and maximum size before editing.
Keep your original photo. Work from a clear, well-lit image rather than a screenshot of a screenshot: compression cannot recover detail that is already missing.
Make a smaller copy, step by step
- If the form specifies dimensions, use Resize image first. Keep the aspect ratio locked unless the required dimensions match your photo’s shape.
- Open Compress image and choose your photo. Your selected image stays in your browser while the tool works.
- Set the target to 50 KB and start compression. The tool searches for a suitable quality setting; some images need smaller dimensions to reach the target.
- Check the result’s file size and preview. Look closely at the eyes, face outline, and any text or details the form needs to read.
- Download the result. If the portal rejects a file at the boundary, try a slightly lower target, such as 48 KB, then check the downloaded file again.
Before you submit
Open the downloaded file and confirm it is the right photo. Check its format, size, and dimensions against the form’s instructions. Renaming a file from .png to .jpg does not convert its format; use Convert image if a real conversion is needed.
Each upload portal decides whether a file is accepted. ToolSaathi helps prepare the file, but the portal’s current instructions remain the final reference.
